The tale of using light to look inside the body
Turgut Durduran (@ulugeyik)

Put your hand by the window on a sunny day. You can not see through but a red glow forms. Understanding this physics helped us use light and its properties to probe inside the body. It turns out that this is clinically important; the amount of blood, the amount of oxygen carried by the blood, the blood flow. I will demonstrate how this works, why it is useful and how we use it to build devices that will ultimately make an impact on important conditions such as cancer, stroke, premature birth and aging. Come and find out what "anís del Mono" and your body have in common.
Brain & stroke: using light to poke into it

When placing you hand on a lamp you will notice a red glow coming from you hand. Understanding physics behind it, helped us understand properties inside the body. The amount of blood and the flow is of great importance, specifically after condition such as stroke. Let me show you how all this is implemented in the small animal imaging, and what use we have from it.
