Trust Me, I’m Sure! (Am I?) (ENG)
Francisca Campos Matias
(BCBL)
We decide things together all the time: choosing a movie, arguing over directions, or guessing an answer in a pub quiz. We like to think that groups are smarter than individuals—but are they? Every day, we are guided not just by what we think but by how confident we feel. This talk explores our ability to judge how sure we are (an aspect that scientists call "metacognition") and what happens when we share that feeling with others. We’ll see when collaboration helps, when it misleads us, and how these skills develop from childhood, shaping how we learn, work, and decide together.

Consciousness: What science knows and doesn't know (ENG)
Nirmitee Nitin Mulay
(BCBL)
Through neuroscience, we have learned a lot about how the brain processes information, including how we see, hear, and perceive our surroundings. Yet one essential feature remains deeply mysterious: consciousness! Consciousness is the experience that accompanies our thoughts and perceptions, the feeling of holding a cold drink hearing music, or what it feels like to be oneself. In this talk, we will explore what we might mean by consciousness, why it is difficult to define, how scientists study it, and how different theories attempt to explain this fundamental aspect of being human.

Mientras duermes
Daniel Baena Perez
(BCBL)
